MLSA Presents: Ramadan Iftar Event
North Green Lounge
1111 East 60th Street, Chicago, Illinois 60637
The Muslim Law Students Association invites you to our annual Ramadan Iftar Dinner! The entire Law School community is invited for an evening of food, conversation, and celebration.
Ramadan is a month of fasting during which Muslims abstain from eating food or drinking water from sunup to sundown. It's long been a tradition for Muslims during Ramadan to have iftar (breakfast) together and celebrate in the evenings. This year, MLSA would like to invite the Law School community to join us for an evening of food and celebration, featuring keynote speaker Sufyan Sohel, Chicago-based civil rights lawyer. All attendees will be gifted a laminated bookmark, and the first 50 attendees will receive a copy of "GOLD," a collection of poetry by Rumi (translated by Haleh Liza Gafori).
This convening is open to all invitees who are compliant with UChicago vaccination requirements and, because of ongoing health risks, particularly to the unvaccinated, participants are expected to adopt the risk mitigation measures (masking and social distancing, etc.) appropriate to their vaccination status as advised by public health officials or to their individual vulnerabilities as advised by a medical professional. Public convening may not be safe for all and carries a risk for contracting COVID-19, particularly for those unvaccinated. Participants will not know the vaccination status of others and should follow appropriate risk mitigation measures.
This is a mask-optional convening. We strongly encourage unvaccinated individuals and those preferring to wear masks to do so.
