Kamran Bajwa is a partner at the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis where he heads the firm's Middle East practice. He has extensive experience in all areas of corporate law including securities regulations, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, investment funds, corporate finance and Islamic finance. Prior to rejoining Kirkland in 2011, Kamran spent eight years as a corporate lawyer and business advisor in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Cairo, Egypt. His experience during this time included serving as the Chief Legal Officer for the leading investment bank in the MENA region, where he established the first in-house legal department and led several major new product launches, investment fund formations and corporate acquisitions.

In addition to his legal experience, Kamran is highly active with US and international institutions on issues ranging from foreign policy to contemporary Islamic thought. He undertook a private study of Islamic Law and Theology at the Al Azhar seminary in Cairo, Egypt, and is fluent in Arabic and Punjabi. He has served as an advisor to the Tabah Foundation in Abu Dhabi, UAE and worked with political leaders in Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia on issues related to human rights and Islamic discourse. Kamran is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Class of 1999.
