The Public Interest Law Society, the Human Rights Law Society, ACLU and the American Constitution Society present: "Investigating and Litigating Chicago's Burge Torture Scandal." Journalist John Conroy of the Roderick and Solange MacArthur Justice Center and attorney G. Flint Taylor of the People's Law Office will discuss use of torture by some Chicago police under the command of Jon Burge on detained suspects in the 1980s. Mr Conroy and Mr. Taylor played key roles in the subsequent investigation, criminal and civil litigation, and reparations movement seeking justice for the victims of Burge and his subordinates. This event is free and open to the public, but seating may be limited. Lunch will be served.
