Environmental Law: A Transactional Approach featuring Kirkland & Ellis Partner Jeanne Cohn-Connor
Jeanne Cohn-Connor is a partner in the environmental transactions group at Kirkland & Ellis. She has over twenty-five years of experience in environmental law where she represents clients in environmental enforcement cases, compliance matters, restructuring cases and corporate transactions. Her practice is versatile and includes settlement negotiations, due diligence and contract negotiations, brownfields redevelopment, environmental compliance auditing, and management of site investigations and cleanups. She will be speaking about her practice and her experiences in the field.
Most recently, she has been debtor’s lead environmental counsel on a number of high profile restructuring matters, including handling all environmental work related to the restructuring of Tronox Incorporated, a large specialty chemical company, and advising on environmental issues in the restructuring of Edison Mission Energy and several of its subsidiaries. Currently, she is representing Energy Future Holdings in its restructuring case, one of the largest bankruptcy cases in the country.
In addition, Jeanne has served as a panelist on internationally-broadcast television on pro bono immigration matters and she has been interviewed by various media for her pro bono immigration work, including The American Lawyer, NBC News, Al Jazeera America and Bloomberg News. This past spring, Jeanne accepted KIND’s Allegiance Award for Kirkland’s efforts in representing unaccompanied child immigrants.
