The increased growth of the global e-discovery market is fast becoming a common challenge for law firms and businesses alike. Conflicting data privacy and protection laws – particularly between the United States and global business centers such as the European Union – highlight the need for increased legal clarity in e-discovery operations. More than ever, companies that transact globally – particularly if they are the target of pending legal or compliance investigations, litigation, or arbitration – need to successfully navigate the complexities of global discovery efforts.
E-discovery – the process of identifying, collecting, processing, and preserving stored information – enables data in the form of text, emails, databases, animations, audio files, websites, spreadsheets, and computer programs to be preserved and presented as evidence in civil and criminal court cases.
E-discovery solutions, including kCura’s Relativity, are being increasingly used by global law firms, governments and regulatory agencies, and by numerous corporate enterprises of all sizes to enhance the internal investigation process, reduce internal risks, and to control organizational privacy and spoliation of data records.
Please join The University of Chicago’s Alumni Law Society (ALS), and leading technical and legal experts in e-discovery litigation, for a timely discussion on e-discovery preservation and production techniques. The panel will discuss current practices for e-discovery in domestic and international proceedings, and will highlight current trends in cross border e-discovery and international disputes.
