Clinical Skills: Representing Trauma Survivors
Room III
1111 East 60th Street, Chicago, Illinois 60637
Lawyers working with clients affected by personal trauma—from the domestic abuse victim to the immigrant child to the returned military veteran—encounter unique challenges in their work. Engaging in a trauma-informed practice requires a lawyer to understand the impact of trauma on an individual and to adjust the lawyer-client relationship and the advocacy strategy accordingly. Equally important is a lawyer’s ability to recognize how the effects of exposure to their client’s trauma can impact their own well-being. Join the Young Center clinicians for a conversation about the skills needed to effectively serve clients affected by trauma.
Lunch will be provided. This event is free and open to the public, but seating may be limited. For special assistance or needs, please contact Kelly Albinak Kribs at kkribs@theyoungcenter.org.
