Chicago's Best Ideas

4/27

Open to the public

The University of Chicago Law School is proud to present the Fourth Annual Chicago's Best Ideas series. On Thursday, April 27. 2006, Dennis Hutchinson, Senior Lecturer in Law and William Rainey Harper Professor in the College, will give a talk and discussion on "Norval Morris, Aspen, and the Transformation of Harry Blackmun." For 17 years, Norval Morris and Harry Blackmun co-moderated a two-week seminar at the Aspen Institute on "Justice and Society," based on readings from Plato to Solzhenitsyn. Professor Hutchinson explains how the experience helped to shape Blackmun's views at a critical point in his tenure on the Supreme Court, and how Blackmun developed from a predictable conservative vote to a fiercely outspoken liberal. The lecture will take place in Classroom II of the University of Chicago Law School at 12:15pm. The lecture is free and open to the public, but please note that seating is limited. Lunch will be provided. For more information, please contact Marsha Nagorsky.
