The Center on Law and Finance at the University of Chicago Law School is hosting a Chicago Conference on Judicial Valuation.
This conference, to be held on September 9-10, 2022, at the Gleacher Center in Chicago, will address one of the biggest controversies in law and finance today: judicial valuation of assets.
The task of valuing assets arises in merger appraisals, bankruptcy proceedings, and the litigation of most financial transactions. Recent scholarship has highlighted both the errors that pervade valuation litigation and the parties’ and experts’ incentives to introduce and capitalize upon those errors.
In September, we will bring together judges, scholars, and practitioners to explore solutions to these problems and to educate each other on fundamental principles and best practices for financial valuation in the courtroom. Our panelists and speakers include: bankruptcy Judges Robert Drain, Craig Goldblatt, David Jones, and Christopher Sontchi, Vice Chancellor Lori Will of the Delaware Court of Chancery, and several leading scholars and practitioners in the fields of law and finance.
