Bigelow Practical Writing Presentation: Government Lawyering
Guest presenter Michael Negron will discuss his experience with legal writing in the context of government lawyering. Mr. Negron currently serves as chief of policy under Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Mr. Negron worked in various aspects of the federal government, before making the move to local government. He was the first staff member hired for Elizabeth Warren’s TARP oversight panel, worked for the Obama administration at the White House Office of Management and Budget, and served as a Special Counsel to the Department of Defense General Counsel. Prior to his current position, Mr. Negron was selected by Mayor Rahm Emanuel to serve as the Director of Chicago’s Innovation Delivery Team, a unit within the Mayor's Office funded by the Bloomberg Philanthropies and established to help the City of Chicago deliver faster, better services to residents and business for less. Mr. Negron attended Harvard Law School, Georgetown University, and previously served in the United States Navy as a commissioned officer. This is the third in a series of presentations on aspects of legal writing in various practical settings that will continue throughout the year. All students are welcome. Lunch will be provided.
