B. Transportation to the University of Chicago from O'Hare International Airport

You are arriving in Chicago after a holiday weekend (Independence Day, July 4th). There may be more travelers around, the airport may be busier, public area more crowded, and businesses and restaurants closed.

Depending on your arrival time and comfort with international travel, there are a variety of means to choose from:  Taxi cabs, Uber, Shuttle and public transportation.  If you are open to public transportation, we recommend that you take the Blue Line in to the city center (Loop) from O'Hare International Airport.  If you are coming in from Midway, you can take the Orange Line to the Loop and then take a taxi or an Uber to the dorm.

By Taxi Cab/Uber

If you decide to take a taxi cab to campus from O'Hare to the University of Chicago, the cost will be about $75.00. The best option would be to gather a small group and share a cab to campus. The cost will vary with Uber, please confirm the cost before you book.

By Shuttle

If you would like to arrange for a seat on a shuttle, http://airportexpress.reachlocal.net/ has small buses that run from the airport to campus. You must book for a seat on the shuttle in advance for them to deliver you to the Renee Granville-Grossman Residential Commons located at 6031 S Ellis Ave., and you will obtain information on where and when to find the bus from Airport Express.

Other Information about the Renee Granville-Grossman Residential Commons: The dorm where you will be staying on campus is student housing. GGRC is right next to the Law School  an is a 3 minute walk. We have arranged for nearly all students to have a private room; bathrooms and showers are down the hall. No alcoholic beverages of any kind are allowed in any of the public areas of the dorm. There are no exceptions to this rule. Other groups, some with younger students, may also be using the dorm housing over the summer. Open bottles of beverages with alcohol are not allowed in public outdoor areas in Chicago. Chicago is a non-smoking city and it is enforced. Smoking is not allowed in any public building (school, dorm, hotel, restaurant, museum) and is discouraged elsewhere.
