Dennericka Brooks is the Director of Legal Aid Chicago’s Housing Practice Group. Dennericka litigates complex legal matters and engages in housing advocacy in different venues, leveraging community partnerships and collaborations. It is Dennericka’s goal to ensure that tenants live in decent, safe, and affordable housing that is free from discrimination. Dennericka began her career first as a generalist working in diverse areas of poverty law, including family, housing, consumer, and employment. For the last decade, Dennericka has specialized in housing law.

Dennericka is a Next Generation Faculty member for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA). As a NITA faculty member, Dennericka teaches at NITA programs across the country. Dennericka is also a ‘22 graduate of the Civic Leadership Academy at the University of Chicago.

Dennericka has been very active over the years in attempting to increase diversity in the legal profession. She has mentored many students through her work with trial practice, mock trial teams, and Minority Legal Education Resources – a bar process management program.
