Carmen Matos Michael is the Assistant Director of Career Services for Communications and Reporting. She graduated from the University of Michigan College of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and earned her law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law at Urbana-Champaign. She is also a registered patent attorney with the US Patent and Trademark Office. During law school, Carmen worked at the Office of Minority Student Affairs at the University of Illinois counseling undergraduate students for academic success. Upon graduating from law school, Carmen joined intellectual property boutique Brinks, Hofer, Gilson & Lione and specialized in patent litigation, prosecution, and interference matters. She was also actively involved with the Pro Bono Committee at the Brinks firm. Prior to law school Carmen worked as a Chemical Engineer for Fortune 500 Companies Monsanto Chemical Company and America Cyanamid Company.
