Andreas Engert

Andreas Engert is a professor of law at Freie Universität Berlin. He is a research member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) and the co-founder of the Freie Universität Empirical Legal Research Center (FUELS).

Professor Engert graduated from the University of Tübingen in Germany (first state exam in law, 1997) and obtained an LL.M. degree from the University of Chicago (2000). He obtained his doctorate (2003) and habilitation (2008) from the University of Munich. He was a professor of law at the University of Cologne (2010) and at the University of Mannheim (2010–2019) before joining the Department of Law at Freie Universität Berlin in 2019.

Professor Engert’s research interests are in contract law, corporation law and financial markets regulation, all with a special emphasis on economic and empirical perspectives. He has written extensively on corporate finance law, contract law, investment fund regulation and law and social norms, among other topics.
