Searching for Fair Housing with Guest: Lee Fennell, University of Chicago School of Law and Discussant: Bill Fischel, Dartmouth Economics

In this talk to begin the symposium, Professor Fennell will discuss an issue fundamental to fair housing, but rarely discussed in the legal literature: the racial biases of homeseekers as they search for a neighborhood. Cutting across the fields of law, urban planning, and political theory, Fennell will lay the ground work for the rest of the symposium by exploring the normative value of integration as a policy goal. Professor Fischel will respond with a discussion of how economics can help us explore these questions, particularly the dynamics of homeseekers.
