The coal industry has been in a downward spiral in recent years, with the largest coal companies filing for bankruptcy and tens of thousands of coal workers now unemployed. Many Republicans, including President-Elect Trump, blame regulations. Their solution: roll back recent efforts like the Clean Power Plan to reduce emissions from the power sector. Off the Charts host Sam Ori talks with economist Steve Cicala from the Harris School of Public Policy and legal expert Mark Templeton from the University of Chicago Law School about the real underlying causes of coal’s troubles and whether efforts from the Trump administration can succeed in reversing the decline.
