Dean Schill Selected President of The University of Oregon

Michael H. Schill, Dean of the University of Chicago Law School, will become the 18th President of the University of Oregon on July 1. The University of Oregon Board of Trustees voted this afternoon and announced his appointment at a press conference shortly afterwards. 

In an announcement to the Law School community, University of Chicago President Robert J. Zimmer and Provost Eric D. Isaacs said, “Thanks to Mike’s leadership, the Law School is in an excellent position for continued success. Mike’s accomplishments have been many and varied. Under his leadership, the Law School has built upon its exceptional intellectual character and historic interdisciplinary focus. The School recruited many outstanding faculty members, enhanced and developed academic programs, and attracted a diverse student body with the highest standards of achievement. He was instrumental in launching several new programs for the Law School, including the Doctoroff Business Leadership Program and the Kapnick Leadership and Professionalism Initiative. His leadership has also attracted transformative philanthropy from alumni and community leaders, including the creation of the Rubenstein Scholars Program and the Cafaro Scholarships. The Law School expanded clinical programs to offer a practical clinical experience for all students who desire it.” 

Details of the process to select Dean Schill’s successor at the Law School will be announced in the coming weeks.
