Malavika Parthasarathy

Malavika Parthasarathy is a J.S.D candidate at the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to the J.S.D, she completed her LL.M. at the Law School in 2021, and graduated from National Law University Delhi with a B.A. LL.B (Honours) in 2018. Her primary areas of research are empirical criminal law, sexual violence, and reproductive justice.

Previously, Malavika worked on a project examining proposals for reform at the Supreme Court of India, has conducted field-based research in rural and urban areas on the legal barriers that women face in accessing abortion services, and was the recipient of a national fellowship that studied the intersection between gender and the digital economy. She has also served as a visiting professor at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, where she taught a seminar course on reproductive justice.

Malavika is deeply passionate about animal welfare, health equity, and law & literature, and hopes to integrate these life-long passions into her research and praxis.
