Tom is a seasoned business professional with a passion for social entrepreneurship, equity in academic education, mentorship and active leadership.

Mr. Dee retired from Abbott (Abt) in September 2013 following a 24 year career where he held various finance and operational management positions. Mr. Dee joined Abbott in 1990 as a Senior Internal Auditor and advanced through progressive leadership positions in Abbott's global pharmaceutical business and corporate finance and treasury operations.

In 2002 Mr. Dee was promoted to VP Internal Audit, making him one of the youngest Corporate Officers in Abbott’s history. Mr. Dee led the internal audit function implementing requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act while maintaining a dual independent reporting relationship to the Audit Committee and the CFO. 

In 2007 Mr. Dee was appointed VP and Controller Pharmaceuticals, playing a lead role in the acquisition and integration of over $10 billion of global pharmaceutical operations. Mr. Dee was instrumental in the creation of the established products division to focus branded generics in emerging markets while maintaining core R&D and commercialization of proprietary pharmaceuticals in developed markets. 

In 2010 Mr. Dee was appointed VP Finance Operations, with fiduciary responsibility for over 300 legal entities and back-office operations in over 40 countries. Upon the decision to separate Abbott into two Fortune 100 public companies Abbott (Abt) and AbbVie (Abbv), Mr. Dee led the strategic design of support operations for both companies. 

Prior to joining Abbott, Mr. Dee worked for Arthur Andersen LLP and Carson Pirie Scott.

Tom serves on the board of Altus Academy and Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep. He is active at NIU serving on the board of the Alumni Executive Leadership Forum, and as member of the Council for Social Entrepreneurship. He is a mentor for Northwestern University student athletes and the Impact Engine at 1871 in Chicago.

Tom earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
