The presentation will examine the emerging technology of contract analysis and its impacts on the business and practice of law.

Contract analysis is the automated review of transactional precedents.  The analysis applies inductive techniques to determine how agreements are organized and discovers what clauses they contain.  It finds the standard, optional and alternative terms of a transaction, and provides the insights necessary to reverse engineer legal logic.

The technology will likely have significant impact on the profession, challenging the status quo, and providing opportunities to for new services.

Kingsley Martin has been at the forefront of technology innovation in the legal practice.  He has 30 years of experience in practice of law, software design and development, strategy and management.  In 2012, he was recognized by the ABA as a Legal Rebel.  In 2013, he was honored as one of the Fastcase 50; an Innovator by Law Technology News; and a national Law Journal Trailblazer and Pioneer. 

Mr. Martin developed some of the first document assembly systems.  He taught himself the C computer language and automated his tax practice. 
 

Later, Mr. Martin was one of the leading innovators in developing the theory and practice of knowledge management.  He wrote the Knowledge Management Workbook.

Now Mr. Martin has created a new discipline called contract analysis.  He
is a founder of KMStandards, formerly known as KIIAC, and has developed software capable of automatically analyzing legal agreements and creating contract standards.

Mr. Martin holds law degrees from Oxford University (First Class Honours) and Harvard Law School.
