Frank Easterbrook, ’73, a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, will be honored with the prestigious Coase Medal by the American Law and Economics Association at its annual conference on May 15.

A leading figure in antitrust law and economic analysis of law, Easterbrook has shaped legal education and scholarship and public service through his judicial opinions for more than four decades. Before his appointment to the federal bench in 1985, Easterbrook was a professor at the Law School. He also served as chief judge of the Seventh Circuit from 2006 to 2013.

The Coase Medal, which honors exceptional contributions to the field of law and economics, is named after the famed economist and Nobel Laureate Ronald Coase, whose revolutionary ideas laid the foundation for modern law and economics. Coase was also a longtime faculty member at the Law School, beginning in the 1960s through the rest of his life.

The award ceremony will take place at 12:15 p.m. at the Rubenstein Forum. Registration is required.
