Jack Ahern

John Paul "Jack" Ahern, 84, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2026.

Born on July 27, 1941, Jack was a proud lifelong Chicagoan with a passion for the city's sports, architecture, history, and politics. A dedicated real estate attorney, he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago after attending St. Philip Neri Grade School, Mount Carmel High School, and the University of Notre Dame. A loyal alumnus and benefactor, Jack enthusiastically supported his schools throughout his life and never missed an opportunity to cheer for their football teams.

Jack was adopted at birth through Chicago Catholic Charities by the Ahern family and was raised with love and South Side Irish pride. Later in life, while applying for a passport, he discovered and connected with his birth family, the Fisher/Hamill family. According to family members, he learned that his birth mother, Kathleen Hamill, faithfully remembered his birthday each year. Through this reconciliation, he gained two living sisters and an extended family whom he cherished.
