Clinic-wide Speaker Series:  Representative Barbara Flynn Currie

Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie served the communities of Hyde Park, Woodlawn, Kenwood and South Shore in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1979 to 2019, the longest term of any woman to serve in the Illinois General Assembly.  She served as majority leader of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1997 to 2019, was a founding member of the Conference of Women Legislators, and chaired the 2008 committee investigating Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich which led to his impeachment.  In this talk, Rep. Currie will reflect on her long experience in state government, including legislative work in conjunction with our Law School’s clinics, and will share her thoughts on the future of Illinois politics.
