Joshua Walker is Counsel at Simpson Thatcher and leads the IP Transactions Group for STB Silicon Valley. Mr. Walker specializes in strategic analysis of intellectual property, covering all aspects of IP: from transactional risk/value assessment; to tactical litigation optimization; to strategic business advice.
Mr. Walker is widely considered a pioneer in the fields of patent risk valuation and legal informatics. He was the founding Executive Director of the first law and computer science lab in the United States, at Stanford University, and the founding CEO of Lex Machina, Inc., the most advanced IP litigation solution of its time. Mr. Walker has assisted members of the U.S. Judiciary, the White House Office Science & Technology Policy, and myriad technology companies with complex IP problems.
Mr. Walker joined the Firm in 2012. He received his A.B. from Harvard University, magna cum laude, in 1995 and his J.D. from the University of Chicago in 2002, where he was a Cornerstone Scholar. Mr. Walker is a member of the California Bar and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.
