Kenneth Vittor '74
Kenneth M. Vittor ‘74 currently serves as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of McGraw Hill Financial. He has held the position since 1999 and joined the Company in 1981. Mr. Vittor was Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel until he was appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel in July 1995.
Mr. Vittor was previously with the New York City law firm of Cahill Gordon & Reindel, where he specialized in litigation and First Amendment law, working closely with First Amendment lawyer Floyd Abrams on a wide variety of media litigations, including several United States Supreme Court Cases. His experience covers a broad range of litigation, media law, intellectual property, securities law, and corporate governance matters.
Mr. Vittor is a past Chairman and current member of the Lawyers' Committee of the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA). He is also a member of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) Lawyers' Committee and a past member of the AAP's Freedom to Read Committee. He is currently a member, and a prior Chairman, of The Libel Defense Resource Center. He is on the Board of Directors of Hartley House and the Board of Advisors of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. He has written articles on a variety of legal issues in the publishing and First Amendment areas.
He graduated with honors from Cornell University in 1971 and from the University of Chicago Law School in 1974.
