The IJ Clinic on Entrepreneurship helps low-income entrepreneurs to set up stable organizations and relationships so that they can make an honest living and help grow the economy.But what happens when the legal landscape is shifting under their feet?
This summer the clinical law program plans to hire a number of law students to work in their various clinics in the Kane Center. The Mandel Legal Aid Clinic projects, the Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship, The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, and the Exoneration Project Clinic seek energetic, dedicated and motivated students for these positions. Through a seminar combined with a field placement at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, students assist with representation of domestic and sexual violence survivors to meet a broad range of legal needs.
The clinic provides students with an opportunity to learn about the criminal justice system through the combination of a 2-quarter seminar and a clinical placement in either a prosecutor's office or public defender's office.
This summer, the Kane Center University of Chicago Clinics plan to hire a number of law students to work in their various Clinics and Projects. The Clinics seek energetic, dedicated and motivated students for these positions. Students selected for the summer program will be assigned to one Clinic/Project for the summer and will work on a variety of cases and other matters.
The University of Chicago Law School will launch its new Abrams Environmental Law Clinic in January.
It will be led by the former director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Mark Templeton, 42, said dean Michael H. Schill of the law school.
