64th Tax Conference: Welcome
On behalf of the University of Chicago Law School, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 64th Annual Federal Tax Conference at the Gleacher Center in downtown Chicago on Friday and Saturday, November 11 and 12, 2011. We surely hope to see you there.
Please respond to this invitation by registering on this site. We encourage registration for all sessions (but we understand if particular circumstances prevent attending the entire Conference), and please indicate whether you will be able to join us for lunch and dinner on Friday. Because space is limited and the Conference is by invitation only, please respond as soon as possible, but no later than October 14, 2011. We may not be able to accommodate any registrations received thereafter.
This year, the sessions will cover such topics as the future of the foreign tax credit, overlap in corporate reorganizations, rescission, and the real “meaning” of a disregarded entity.
Our traditional cocktail hour and dinner will be held at The Signature Room at the 95th (the restaurant that Chicago looks up to!), located at 875 North Michigan Avenue, The John Hancock Center. Our dinner speaker will be Stephen E. Shay, of Harvard Law School.
The speakers and panelists are all experts on their topics, and senior government personnel will participate on the panels. We extend invitations to tax executives, tax academics and tax practitioners such as yourself with national reputations in the subjects to be discussed. The session chairs will ensure that there is ample time for vigorous audience debate, which, as we have learned, is illuminating (and fun) for everyone and has become the hallmark of our Conference. Abstracts or preliminary drafts of papers will be available on our website in advance of the Conference.
Attendance is by invitation only and limited to 150. Our conference is now in the enviable situation of usually being oversubscribed, and we therefore urge you to accept promptly to assure yourself a spot. The registration fee for the Conference and dinner is $450 (although the actual cost of the Conference is far higher). We have a limited budget to defray the travel expenses of government officials who cannot fund travel from other sources. Please feel free to contact me prior to the Conference with any such requests.
We look forward to seeing you at the Gleacher Center in November.
Cordially yours,
Todd F. Maynes
Chairman
