Tickets
You will get 6 tickets per marching graduate for the Hooding Ceremony. If you anticipate needing additional tickets, you should make arrangements with friends. While this is Chicago, tickets cannot be sold.
Tickets will be available for pickup beginning on May 12. If you need extra tickets, and still haven't found them through a classmate, please email Lisa Alvarez and get your name added to the wait list. Lisa will collect unused tickets and redistribute (one at a time) to students on the wait list. This redistribution will start on May 26th and continue until all tickets have been distributed.
Academic Attire
Robes are ordered through the Bookstore and must be returned to the bookstore immediately following convocation.
The University policy on academic dress is as follows:
A degree candidate wears the robe and cap, but not the hood, appropriate for the degree he or she is to receive at the Convocation, regardless of previous degrees he or she has received. (You get the hood at the Hooding Ceremony).
JD candidates should have a maroon robe with black velvet stripes and a black velvet tam.
LLM candidates should have a black robe (no velvet stripes) and a black mortarboard.
No adornment of any kind can be worn outside the robe or on the cap.
The University Marshals reserve the right to prevent people from marching if they are out of compliance with this policy.
The Bookstore (773.702.7712) is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
J.Ds: Your attire will be available for rent at the Bookstore for a cost of $50. Please place your order by May 18. Graduation packets will be mailed from the University Registrar's Office the week of April 23 and will contain a card to order your academic attire. If you do not receive a card by April 30 or if you miss the deadline, please contact the Bookstore as soon as possible. Rented academic attire will be available for pickup at the Bookstore and must be returned to the Bookstore immediately after the graduation ceremonies. You will keep your hood as a keepsake.
LLMs: Your attire will be available for purchase at the Bookstore ($40). Please purchase your cap and gown between May 21 and June 1. Attire will be sold until June 10, and we strongly suggest that you do not wait until the week of Convocation. You will be able to keep your cap, gown and hood as a keepsake.
