Financial Aid

As continuing students, you will need to remember to renew your FAFSA each year and re-submit your University of Chicago Graduate Loan and Work-Study Application.  The Student Loan Administration handles the processing and disbursement of Law School student loans, so please contact them if you have questions.

1L Summer Public Interest Program

To demonstrate its commitment to public interest and government work, the University of Chicago Law School will provide financial support for students who engage in qualifying summer public interest or government work for four or more weeks during the summer following the first year of law school.

Student Loan Administration

The Student Loan Administration Office (SLA) processes student loans and work-study for students in the graduate and professional schools and divisions, conducts entrance and exit loan counseling for all students receiving federal student loans, disburses loan funds to all students receiving federal student loans, and services and collects for all Federal Perkins and institutional loan programs.

Work in the public interest is a valuable and fulfilling career option, and the University of Chicago Law School is committed to making such options available for its graduates. One obstacle is the large educational debt many undertake to pay for their undergraduate and graduate education. In response, the Law School created a unique and generous program to assist its graduates who pursue careers in the public interest.
