HOURS OF OPERATION
The Office of Career Services is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 5:00 p.m.
We observe the calendar of the University of Chicago and are closed on school holidays. Occasionally, our hours vary to accommodate special programs (such as Fall On-Campus Interviewing), other Law School events, and staff in-service days.
Any variation in hours will be posted on the Career Services sign at Zac Wideman-Togami's desk and in the OCS Events & Announcements weekly email.
OCS staff members provide individual career counseling to students by appointment and on a walk-in basis. During scheduled appointments, we review resumes and cover letters, develop career plans and job search strategies, counsel students on resources and alternatives, and guide career-related decision making. Contact the office at (773)702-9625 or email@example.com, or stop by the office to schedule an appointment . Walk-in service is encouraged for quick questions only.Programming:
OCS sponsors a variety of programs throughout the year. Our skills programming focuses on developing the skills necessary for the employment search process and for successful career development. Our informational programming features speakers sharing their own career stories, challenges, and successes. The informational programming focuses on particular career paths, practice settings and practice specialties. Read Law School Briefs and the OCS Bulletin for information about programming.Recruitment programs:
OCS sponsors on-campus interview programs, participates in select job fairs, and provides resume forwarding as well as job postings services. These activities are designed to provide students with a broad range of summer, term-time and permanent job opportunities. Information about these programs is distributed to students in informational meetings throughout the school year; during the summer, the information is posted to Chalk.Resource center:
OCS maintains a resource center in our offices for student use. The resource center contains books, periodicals, and newspapers. If there are resources you need that are not already in the OCS library, please let us know, and we will try to add it to the library. The resource materials do not circulate. You may use the resource center whenever the office is open.Publications:
OCS publishes handouts, handbooks, and booklets on specific topics relevant to career development and the employment search process. Our publications are available free of charge to students and may be picked up from the literature cabinet just inside the door of OCS; many are available electronically as well, either on our web site, Chalk, or via email.
OCS provides information and job postings online at https://law-uchicago-csm.symplicity.com/students. The job postings are available to students and graduates through Symplicity and are password protected. During the school year, OCS distributes the OCS Bulletin, a weekly e-mail newsletter to students. The newsletter includes information about deadlines, events, and employment opportunities.
OCS also maintains a page on Chalk for secure resources. In addition to information and resources on the website, students and alumni with an active CNetID can login to Chalk at https://chalk.uchicago.edu, choose the Office of Career Services page, and select the Organization Materials link. Resources are organized in various folders.
