Teach for America / Dewey LeBoeuf Scholarship
Teach for America/Dewey LeBoeuf Emerging Law Leaders Scholarship Sponsored by LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP and The University of Chicago Law School
The law firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP and the University of Chicago Law School has partnered to create the Teach for America/ Dewey LeBoeuf Emerging Law Leaders Scholarship to recognize those individuals who have dedicated two years of service towards the elimination of educational inequality in schools nationwide. This $40,000 scholarship is open to 2008 matriculating law students who are current or past Teach for America corps members.
Teach for America (“TFA”) is a diverse and highly selective corps of top recent college graduates and professionals of all academic majors, career interests and backgrounds. TFA participants commit to teach for two years in low-income areas nationwide. In addition to teaching duties participants engage in numerous activities and initiatives in the greater school community to enhance the quality of education for the student body.
The Emerging Law Leaders Scholarship is open to all admitted students matriculating to the Law School in fall of 2008 who complete a 500 word essay on how they plan to use their law school experience to advocate for the elimination of educational inequality. All current or past participants in Teach for America who have been admitted to the University of Chicago Law School’s Class of 2011 will automatically be considered for the Scholarship provided they submit the essay via e-mail to Sarah Rewerts (srewerts@uchicago.edu), Director of Financial Aid, by March 15, 2008.
