Application calendar
Below is an outline of the key dates and approximate mailing times of important information for those applying the University of Chicago Law School. The Admissions Office does its best to follow these dates, but remember we are trying to make the best decisions and sometimes may require additional time.

September 1  We start receiving applications in the Admissions Office

December 1  Deadline for applying Early Decision

End of December Decisions released for Early Decision Applicants

End of January Decisions released on a rolling basis for Regular Decision Applicants

February 1  Deadline for applying Regular Decision

February Financial aid letters sent to applicants who have submitted FAFSA and Need Access applications. (Named fellowships will not be announced until after admitted applicants have committed to enrolling.)

Late March Tuition and budget information, as well as university housing applications, mailed to all admitted applicants.

May 1  Response forms due back to the Admissions Office

Early May University loan materials sent to all admitted applicants who have reserved seats in the class.

Late May Deadline for our receipt of second response forms from applicants choosing option "2" and loan documents from all students intending to enroll. Loans will still be available for students who submit loan application materials after this deadline, but the loan checks may not become available until after registration in September.

Late June Summer mailing will include information about classes, a guide to Chicago and Hyde Park, as well as various forms (health insurance, immunization, etc.) to be completed and returned.
Mid July Deadline for returning photos and biographies for our facebook and orientation materials. The Office of Neighborhood Student Apartments will begin sending out room assignments for the New Graduate Residence Hall. (University apartments are assigned on a rolling basis depending on requested move-in dates.)

Middle of August The Bursar will send out Autumn Quarter bills.

Early September Registration and orientation materials sent to entering students. Assignments to course section will be available when orientation begins. Orientation events generally include tours of the Law School and the University; panel presentations on academic activities, life beyond the Law School, and placement; a Lake Michigan boat ride; dinner at a popular Chicago restaurant; and an evening at the Second City comedy club.

Middle of September Deadline for payment of Autumn Quarter bills.
