Dean Search Committee Announced

The University of Chicago Law School has chosen a search committee for our next Dean. Dean Saul Levmore announced last month that he will step down as Dean by the summer of 2010.

The search committee will be chaired by Eric Posner, Kirkland and Ellis Professor of Law. The other members of the committee are Douglas Baird, Harry A. Bigelow Distinguished Service Professor of Law and former Dean; Emily Buss, Mark and Barbara Fried Professor of Law and Kanter Director of Chicago Policy Initiatives; Adam Cox, Assistant Professor of Law; Martha Nussbaum, Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Ethics; Geoffrey Stone, Edward H. Levi Distinguished Service Professor and former Dean; and David Strauss, Gerald Ratner Distinguished Service Professor of Law.

“The law school has flourished under Dean Levmore’s leadership and we are very grateful to him for his service,” said Professor Posner.  “We look forward to finding a successor who will carry on the law school’s traditions of excellence.”

The committee looks forward to hearing comments and suggestions from the Law School community. These comments may be directed to Eric Posner at eric_posner@law.uchicago.edu.
