When Katrina Gossett moved into her Downtown condominium two years ago, she knew exactly what she wanted -- soft hues and lots of light.
"Almost every room is a shade of pastel," said Gossett, 26, the first owner of the three-bedroom unit on Massachusetts Avenue. She shares the space with a roommate and two dogs -- Duke and Lola.
Her kitchen, just inside the front door, combines her love of color and cruising on an ocean liner.
The walls are painted a pale blue, and a backsplash of iridescent tiles resembles abalone shells.
"I had a friend tell me, 'Paint your kitchen blue, and you won't eat as much.' "
There was something else on Gossett's wish list: lots of room to move.
Gossett was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy when she was 13 months old and has used a power wheelchair since she was 3.
A graduate of Notre Dame and the University of Chicago Law School, Gossett and Duke, her service dog, make the daily trek to work -- just a few blocks away -- where Gossett is an attorney with Faegre Baker Daniels.
