Thomas Cole '75 Named to 2010 Directorship 100 List

Thomas A. Cole, '75, a partner at Sidley Austin LLP's Chicago office and chair of the firm’s Executive Committee, has been named to the 2010 Directorship 100 list of the most influential people in corporate governance and the boardroom. The annual list by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) is selected by an Editorial Advisory Council, as well as a comprehensive survey of NACD members. Mr. Cole will be honored, along with the other 2010 inductees, at the annual Directorship 100 recognition dinner on November 8 in New York.

Mr. Cole maintains a substantial practice in public company mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. He has been involved in dozens of transactions valued at more than $1 billion. Corporate governance assignments have included advising public company boards, audit and compensation committees and special litigation, transactions and investigative committees. Mr. Cole is a frequent speaker at M&A and corporate governance seminars, including the Kellogg School of Management Annual Corporate Governance Conference. For five years ending in 1998, he taught the seminar on corporate governance at The University of Chicago Law School, where he is a Trustee of the University. He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare.
