Regina Merson, '07: Tips for Latina Entrepreneurs

When Regina Merson put herself through Yale and later the University of Chicago’s law school it was never with the intention of starting her own makeup line. But after six years as a bankruptcy lawyer she reassessed her passions and rediscovered her love for makeup.

“There was a longing to contribute to my community and connect in another way that was not related to law,” explains Merson. “Once I figured out that I needed a creative outlet, (a very obvious but important A-ha moment for me) things really started falling into place.”

After years spent brainstorming and investing in R&D, Merson cemented the groundwork for what is now Reina Rebelde. Her road to building the brand was met with a bit of resistance for a reason she hadn’t even considered — the fact that she was a lawyer by trade.
