Civic Education Should Not be Limited to the Views of Any Party

Tom Ginsburg comments on civic education in this Chilean interview:

The government announced a period of "civic education," but some warn that the process could become indocrtination.

It is good that citizens understand constitutions. Many processes worldwide are accompanied by civic education programs. Civic education is not political education. Of course, civic education should not be limited to the views of any party or group of parties, however, it should focus on general subjects of the politics, government institutions, and public involvement. Chile is a country with vigorous public debate, so I doubt there's a risk of indoctrination.
