Case goes after fake ‘stash houses’
Federal sting operations that lure suspects into robbing fictional drug "stash houses" may be biased in their targeting of racial minorities. Nearly 100 people have been charged with these crimes in the Chicago area in the last eight years and only eight of those people arrested were white. That's according to a case going in front of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. University of Chicago’s Federal Criminal Justice Clinic, in collaboration with the Federal Defender’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, is arguing a federal judge’s ruling that the fake stash house operations could be unfairly targeting minorities.
