Daniel Rubinstein Receives 2013 Award for Excellence

Winston & Strawn LLP announced today partner Daniel Rubinstein has been selected by the Judges of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois to receive the 2013 Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service. Mr. Rubinstein will be recognized during the Fourteenth Annual Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Interest Service Award Ceremony on May 23, 2013. The Award for Excellence is presented to attorneys who have provided outstanding pro bono representation.

Greg McConnell, Winston & Strawn's pro bono counsel, commented that in his eleven years at Winston & Strawn he has not experienced any attorney taking on the responsibility to the Court as Dan Rubinstein has. "Dan's focused commitment to these clients and to the Court, particularly in a time of professional transition to the firm, has been extraordinary," said Mr. McConnell.

Within months of joining Winston & Strawn as a partner in February 2012, Mr. Rubinstein accepted five different pro bono appointments, including two civil cases and three criminal defense cases, all in the Northern District of Illinois. His work on behalf of Ana Lissette Rodas Juarez in a demanding case (Hague Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction) that led to a successful settlement after trial also earned him a nomination for the Award of Excellence from Judge Amy St. Eve.
