Pro basketball fans already know Adam Silver well.

He's the guy sitting next to NBA Commissioner David Stern at press conferences. The guy reading the second round picks at the NBA Draft. The guy who is just a pitchfork and overalls away from the farmer in Grant Wood's "American Gothic."

What you probably didn't know is that Mr. Silver, the current NBA Deputy Commissioner who will take over the league in 2014, is still heavily involved with the University of Chicago Law School, from which he graduated in 1988.

Mr. Silver, in fact, happens to be the incoming chairman of the school's $4 million Annual Fund and remains an active member of its visiting committee.
