Brandy Kuentzel '06 Wins This Season of Trump's Apprentice
Chicago Law alumni have given answers in the form of a question on Jeopardy!, battled the wilds on Survivor, and sat in the hot seat on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Now Brandy Kuentzel ’06 has faced Donald Trump in his infamous boardroom on The Apprentice and heard the words so few of the show’s contestants are told: You’re hired. After weeks of intense competition, Kuentzel was chosen as the latest winner of the show that pits young professionals in a competition to work for business mogul Donald Trump.
For winning, Kuentzel will be paid a $250,000 annual salary to run one of Trump’s companies. There’s no word yet on exactly what that will entail, but Kuentzel told Trump in the show’s finale that she would like to work with his adult children to strengthen the next generation of the Trump brand.
Kuentzel displayed a business-minded spirit while a student at the Law School. She was active in the Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship, a clinical program that provides legal support to lower-income entrepreneurs.
“Brandy was a dynamic, personable student who approached her clients’ needs with curiosity and energy and presented complicated information to entrepreneurs from the community in an engaging, educational style,” said Elizabeth Milnikel, Director of the IJ Clinic.
She later became an entrepreur herself. After graduating from the Law School, Kuentzel worked for Kirkland & Ellis in San Francisco before starting her own mobile cupcake bakery, Sweet Ride. The company moved from the Bay Area to Chicago and has started deploying its cupcake truck around the city. (In fact, the Sweet Ride truck’s first stop in Chicago will be at the Law School.)
