All-Law School Team Ties for First in Booth's Social Venture Challenge

A team of Law School students that developed technology that would give inmates access to legal advocacy tied for first place in Booth's Social Venture Challenge this week. The team, AccessArc—which included Michael Savage, Vanessa Brown, and Darell Hayes, all ’16—is featured in the Chicago Tribune in their story, "2 startups split top prize in Social New Venture Challenge":

AccessArc, which gives inmates more access to legal advocacy, and JoinGiving, which encourages nonprofit donation, tied for first place Tuesday in the University of Chicago’s Social New Venture Challenge.

The two companies each won $20,000 in award grants. AccessArc and JoinGiving, which lets businesses donate gift cards to nonprofits, who then use them to encourage donors, beat out five other socially minded U. of C. startups.
