Marching Requirements
Degree candidates participating in Convocation and the Diploma and Hooding Ceremony must have successfully satisfied all curriculum requirements, passed all examinations, and completed an online degree application through cMore by the deadlines published by the registrar. No exceptions will be made.
Graduation Committee
The Graduation Committee is involved in planning the Graduating Students Dinner, selecting the faculty hooders and award recipients, and coordinating the fundraising for the Class Gift.

Tickets
Tickets are not required for the University Convocation Ceremony.
Each marching graduate will receive four tickets for the Diploma and Hooding Ceremony. An online request form will be made available for students who anticipate needing additional tickets at http://www.law.uchicago.edu/graduation/extratickets. Students will be notified when the request form is open.
Academic Attire
Robes are ordered through the Bookstore and must be returned to the bookstore immediately following convocation.
The University policy on academic dress is as follows:
- A degree candidate wears the robe and cap, but not the hood, appropriate for the degree he or she is to receive at the Convocation, regardless of previous degrees he or she has received. (You get the hood at the Diploma and Hooding Ceremony).
- JD candidates should have a maroon robe with black velvet stripes and a black velvet tam.
- LLM candidates should have a black robe (no velvet stripes) and a black mortarboard.
- No adornment of any kind can be worn outside the robe or on the cap.

The University Marshals reserve the right to prevent people from marching if they are out of compliance with this policy.
The Bookstore (773.702.7712) is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and is closed on Sunday.
JDs: Your attire will be available for rent at the Bookstore for a cost of $60. Graduation packets will be mailed from the University Registrar's Office and will contain a card to order your academic attire, which must be ordered by May 20th. If you do not receive a card by May 15, please contact the Bookstore as soon as possible. Rented academic attire will be available for pickup at the Bookstore and must be returned to the Bookstore after the graduation ceremonies and no later than June 11, 2012. You will keep your hood as a keepsake. [Deadlines not yet set for 2012 -- these are the 2011 deadlines.]
LLMs: Your attire is available for purchase at the Bookstore for a cost of $45 beginning in April 2012 (note that the price is subject to change). Please purchase your cap and gown before June 1, 2012. You will be able to keep your cap, gown, and hood as a keepsake.

If you anticipate you will need special accommodations for elderly guest and guests with mobility concerns, please contact the Office of Special Events at (773) 702-2513 or via email at ose-convocation@uchicago.edu before Friday, May 20, 2011. [Deadline not yet set for 2012 -- this is the 2011 deadline.]
Please note: The University does not provide wheelchairs. Individuals are responsible for bringing their own.
Graduating Students' Dinner
The Graduating Students Dinner (for 3Ls and LLMs) will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Law School. The Graduating Students Dinner is open to all graduating students. RSVPs are required and will be submitted here: http://www.law.uchicago.edu/2011GraduatingStudentsDinner. Students will be notified when they are able to begin RSVPing for the event.
The examination period for 3Ls and LLMs runs from May 22 to May 26.
Bar Exam prep courses usually begin on the Tuesday after Memorial Day but some may start during the exam period.
