Parking
The Law School's parking lot and all parking lots on campus will be open to all parkers on June 9 and there is street parking. If you are concerned about parking, please plan to arrive early.
Street parking is available on the Midway Plaisance, as well as on nearby streets around campus. The University parking structure is located on 55th Street, with entrances on both Ellis and Greenwood. In addition, the University of Chicago Hospitals operates a paid parking facility located at 59th Street and Maryland Avenue.
Hints for Dressing
Most men wear shirts and ties under their robes. (Don't wear a jacket because it is usually very hot. Have someone bring your jacket if you want it for the reception). Most wear dark dress pants or khakis and dress shoes or loafers. Most women wear dresses or pants with pumps or sandals. Keep in mind that these robes are very hot. Most years it manages to get into the 90s - if that is the case, more people wind up in shorts. Most guests are in business/business casual attire.
Assembling to March for the University Ceremony
Please assemble in Harper Quadrangle by 8:15 am.
Assembling to March for the Hooding Ceremony
Please go to the east side of Rockefeller Chapel immediately after the University Convocation Ceremony.
Seating Your Guests
University Convocation Ceremony guest seating in the Main Quadrangle begins at 7:00 am, and entry gates will be located on Ellis Avenue between 57th and 59th. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, and we recommend early arrival for best seating. All guests are requested to be in their seats by 9:00 a.m.
Diploma and Hooding Ceremony Guest seating in Rockefeller Chapel begins at 11:00 am.
Transporting Your Guests
After the University Convocation Ceremony, the University will have buses to help in transporting elderly guests and guests with mobility concerns to the Diploma and Hooding Ceremony and to the reception.
Photography/Composites
Grad Images will videotape the main campus ceremony and the Law School ceremony. Approximately two weeks after the ceremony, students will receive by mail, directly from Grad Images information about purchasing DVDs. There is no obligation to purchase. Orders can be placed by calling (800) 261-2576 or via the web www.gradimages.com.
Grad Images will be taking individual photos at Rockefeller Chapel as you are hooded and as you receive your diploma. They also will be taking family photos, etc. at the Law School Reception immediately following the Diploma and Hooding Ceremony that will be available for purchase.
