David Dormon, ’14 (Harold N. Solomon Scholarship Fund)
Hometown: Foxborough, Massachusetts
Receiving this scholarship has been instrumental to my ambition of becoming a great lawyer and an involved member of my community. I came from humble means, so I was simply ecstatic to find out that I would receive the financial help I needed to make my dream of attending this excellent institution a reality.
I have become involved in many different organizations at the Law School, including the Black Law Students Association. Through this student group, I have participated in several community service projects throughout the city of Chicago. For example, we worked with teenagers at local public schools on their college applications and helped to register voters in urban areas that are historically underrepresented. This year, I plan to take on an even larger role with the group and the local community.
This scholarship allows me to be an asset to the community, and to acquire a knowledge of the law that I will one day use for the benefit of many people.
