Meet the current Fellows-Elect
Karen Bradshaw (Class of 2010)
Karen Bradshaw attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration.  During her time at Berkeley, Karen studied abroad in Sweden and Asia, and was a Regents and Chancellors Scholar.  After graduation, Karen founded and operated a residential real estate brokerage organized around principles of corporate social responsibility.  While operating the business, Karen obtained a M.B.A. and served on the Board of Directors for a rural, non-profit health care clinic.  Karen is busy with her first year classes, but enjoys traveling, running and writing in her spare time.

David Yi (Class of 2010)
Born and raised in sunny Southern California, David is a Korean-American who attended Middlebury College, where he graduated, cum laude, with a degree in Political Science and Chinese. Upon graduation David worked as an analyst in the public sector before serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the People's Republic of China. David then returned to America and established oneAsia, a non-profit organization committed to encouraging unity and volunteerism among Asian nations. David hopes to use his law degree to strengthen business ties and communication between Asia and America.

Grisel Ruiz (Class of 2009)
Grisel graduated from the University of Notre Dame as a dual Political Science and Spanish Literature major.  Before law school, she spent a year working as a paralegal and coordinator at the National Immigrant Justice Center, where she focused on immigration detention issues.  Grisel’s most recent summer was spent as a legal intern at the U.S. Attorney's office in Los Angeles, and she is currently involved in the Police Accountability Clinic as well as a research assistant position.  She is also involved in the Public Interest Law Students Association, the ACLU club, and the Latino Law Students Association.  Grisel intends to develop her interest in litigation through a 2008 split summer at the law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman in San Francisco, and Legal Services of Northern California in Sacramento.

Nathan Christensen (Class of 2008)
Nathan graduated from Stanford University, where he studied Public Policy and History. After graduating, Nathan worked as an Associate for the Boston Consulting Group. Subsequent to his position with BCG, Nathan joined Teach for America, moved to Atlanta, and began teaching fourth grade at Frank L. Stanton Elementary School. Nathan joined the law school with an interest in government and policy work.  During his first summer, Nathan worked at the United States Attorney’s Office in Chicago.  During his second summer he worked for the law firms of Munger, Tolles & Olson in Los Angeles and Perkins Coie in Portland, OR.  Nathan is a Comment Editor for the Law Review, and plans to clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Posner on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals after graduation.

Jennifer Newberry (Class of 2008)
Jennifer attended the University of Michigan, where she received her undergraduate degree in the History of Art.  After graduation, Jennifer enrolled at the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago.  After her third year of medical school, Jennifer transitioned into her first year of law school at the University of Chicago.  She has been an active member of the Public Interest Law Society and the Kane Legal Aid Center's Mental Health Advocacy Project since her 1L summer.  During her 2L summer she worked as a summer associate at the law firm Greenberg Traurig in Chicago.  Jennifer is on the University of Chicago first team for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court held in Vienna, Austria.  In her final year of law school, she has continued to develop her interests in public international law and human rights law, particularly where they intersect in the area of disaster response.
