Dan is a litigation partner at Winston & Strawn whose practice boasts a unique combination of skills as: a past prosecutor; a current complex commercial, white-collar criminal and regulatory defense litigator; and an experienced trial lawyer.
Dan focuses his practice on white collar criminal matters, government investigations, regulatory enforcement actions, corporate internal investigations, and complex civil litigation. He has represented executives and corporations, including several publicly traded companies and a large alternative investment fund.
Dan has successfully tried 20 cases to verdict in state and federal court. He has also litigated numerous appeals before the Seventh and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal, and conducted more than 100 bench trials and contested evidentiary hearings in state and federal court.
Prior to joining Winston & Strawn, Dan served for more than seven years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in both Los Angeles and Chicago. In that capacity he investigated and prosecuted a wide range of federal criminal cases involving complex corporate and securities fraud, racketeering, money laundering, public corruption, terrorism, financing, international drug trafficking, and gangs. In 2007, he was awarded the Department of Justice’s Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and has twice received the Chicago Crime Commission’s “Stars of Distinction” award for separate significant prosecutions.
After graduating from law school, Dan was a Law Clerk for the Honorable Ernest C. Torres in the United States District Court, District of Rhode Island, for two years.
He graduated from Boston University School of Law, cum laude, in 1995, and received his BA, with honors, from Brown University in 1991.
