Judith Mintel
Judy Mintel graduated from the University of Chicago College and the University of Chicago Law School. She was in the General Counsel's Office of the State Farm Insurance Companies for more than 25 years where she had success in defending and resolving complex multi-party, class action litigation and administrative proceedings. Examples include the Proposition 103 rate rollback in California, "redlining" and rate classification litigation, private attorney general lawsuits, antitrust litigation, and bad faith claim litigation. Since 2005, she has taught at the University of Chicago Law School where she teaches an upper level seminar in "Complex Corporate Litigation Management." Judy has also taught at the University of Illinois Law School in Urbana, Illinois.
She is the author of a book, Insurance Rate Litigation, published by the S. S. Huebner Foundation for Insurance Education, University of Pennsylvania, which is on the required reading list of the Casualty Actuarial Society and she has published many articles about insurance and public policy.
Judy has experience as a financial regulator in the Commonwealth of Virginia where she was Special Deputy Insurance Commissioner and an administrative law judge for the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
