Bruce W. Melton
Bruce W. Melton graduated from Cornell College magna cum laude in 1982 with a B. Phil. in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics; he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from The Law School in 1986, where he served as an Associate Editor of the Law Review.
Bruce began his career at Sidley & Austin and moved to Butler, Rubin, Saltarelli & Boyd, where he became a partner. In 1998, he became a founding equity partner in a small law firm that focused on representing colleges and universities. He joined the University of Chicago’s Office of Legal Counsel in May 2007.
Bruce is an active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and has been a regular speaker at its annual conferences. He has also served as a Visiting Lecturer in Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy, where he taught “Law and Ethics in Higher Education” in the Master of Science in Education program for over a decade.
