Jeff Leslie graduated from Yale College magna cum laude in 1992 and graduated from the Yale Law School in 1997, where he was a member of the Yale Law Journal and a student director of the Housing and Community Development clinical project. He then clerked for Judge Joel M. Flaum of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Before joining the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic, he was an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the City of Chicago Department of Law, where he worked on affordable housing and economic development transactions. He currently directs the Irwin Askow Housing Initiative at the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic representing community-based housing developers, tenant groups, and other parties involved in the production of new or rehabilitated affordable housing stock. He also directs the Chicago Project on Animal Treatment Principles, a policy project focused on disclosure guidelines and related recommendations for the treatment of animals in various industries.
