Ruoying Chen
Ruoying Chen graduated from Peking University Law School in Beijing, China, in 1999. After graduation, she went to St. Anne's College, Oxford University as a Shell Centenary Scholar and British Government FCO Chevening Scholar. She obtained the degree of MJur in European and Comparative Law in 2000 from Oxford University, with a focus on philosophical foundation of property rights. After a brief stay in a London-based international law firm, she joined global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in July 2001. She worked in both Beijing and Hong Kong on cross-border corporate transactions, nonperforming loan transactions, and restructuring and overseas listing of China's state owned enterprises, including telecommunication companies and financial institutions. In June 2005, she obtained the LLM degree from the Law School. For the academic year 2005–06, Chen a John M. Olin Fellow in the Law and Economics Program and Lecturer in Law at the Law School.
